Rationalization Definition

Rationalization is the act of explaining away something that is unpleasant, inconvenient, or otherwise unwanted. It is a way of making oneself feel better by creating excuses for bad behavior or poor performance. Rationalization can be used to justify anything from lying and cheating to procrastination and laziness. It is a form of self-deception that allows people to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.
