Strategic Supply Chain

Strategic Supply Chain Definition

The definition of a strategic supply chain is a network of organizations that work together to create and deliver a product or service to customers. The supply chain includes everything from the raw materials suppliers, to the manufacturers, to the logistics companies that ship the finished product to the customer.

A strategic supply chain is one that is aligned with the overall business strategy of the company. In other words, the supply chain must support the company’s goals and objectives. For example, if a company’s goal is to be the low-cost provider in its industry, then its supply chain must be designed to minimize costs. On the other hand, if a company’s goal is to be the leader in customer service, then its supply chain must be designed for flexibility and responsiveness.

There are many different ways to design a strategic supply chain. The key is to align the design with the company’s overall strategy.
