The Chief Financial and Operating Officer is the key executive responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial and operational performance of an organization. This role combines elements of accounting, finance, operations, performance management, strategy, and organizational structure and leadership to ensure that the organization is successful and achieving its goals. The CFO&O is a highly visible role in which they serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and other senior executives on all matters related to finance, operations, and business strategies. They are also expected to represent the company with external stakeholders such as investors, lenders, board members, regulators, customers, and suppliers. As such, it’s essential that anyone in this role exhibits strong interpersonal skills, agility in responding to change, and a commitment to excellence.
