Construction Change Order Process

The Construction Change Order Process is an essential document that manages the changes incurred in a construction project. It outlines the contract agreement between two parties and consists of four key steps: negotiation, agreement, implementation and review.

The process starts with negotiations between the contractor and customer, where the customer defines their requirements for the change and the contractor offers a fair price for the work. Both parties must reach an agreement on the details before moving forward to implementation.

Next, the implementation phase begins. Here, the contractor gets to work on executing the change order and keeping accurate records of the cost and materials involved. Once completed, both parties conduct a thorough review of the change order to ensure it meets the agreed upon standards.

This critical step helps protect both parties during any potential disputes or disagreements. By following this formal process, contractors can easily track authorized changes and create a well-defined structure to provide quality services.
