Critical Mass

Critical Mass Definition

Critical mass is a term used in many different fields, but it generally refers to a point at which something becomes unstoppable. In physics, critical mass is the amount of material needed to sustain a nuclear chain reaction. In business, it’s the tipping point at which a company or product becomes so successful that it can no longer be ignored.

The term has been used more recently to describe the moment when a social movement or cultural phenomenon reaches a tipping point and becomes unstoppable. The Occupy Wall Street movement is often cited as an example of this phenomenon.
