A Custody and Support Agreement (CSA) is a legally binding document that outlines the terms of custody, child support, and related responsibilities between parents who are no longer together. The purpose of a CSA is to ensure that both parents continue to have an active involvement in their child’s life, as well as establish a fair system for providing financial support. All CSAs must cover certain key components, including the division of physical and legal custody rights; the decision-making process for major issues involving the child; plans for medical, educational, and other important needs; and the amount and type of child support that will be provided. By signing a CSA, parents agree to put their differences aside in order to focus on raising their children in the best possible environment.
