Likert Scale Definition

A Likert scale is a type of rating scale that allows respondents to rate a question or statement on a level of agreement. It is named after statistician Rensis Likert, who developed the technique in 1932.

Likert scales are usually presented as a series of statements, each followed by a set of response options ranging from ‘Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Strongly Agree.’ Respondents select the option that best reflects their level of agreement with the statement.
