Likert Scale Definition

A Likert scale is a type of rating scale that allows respondents to rate a question or statement on a level of agreement. It is named after statistician Rensis Likert, who developed the technique in 1932.

Likert scales are usually presented as a series of statements, each followed by a set of response options ranging from ‘Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Strongly Agree.’ Respondents select the option that best reflects their level of agreement with the statement.

Likert scale data can be analyzed using various statistical methods, including mean scores and standard deviation. The technique is often used in market research and customer satisfaction surveys.
