Nepotism

Nepotism Definition

Nepotism is the practice of giving jobs or other favors to family members. The word comes from the Italian word nephew, which means child of a brother or sister.

Nepotism has been around since ancient times, and it’s still common today. In some cultures, it’s expected that people will help their relatives get ahead. But in other cultures, nepotism is seen as unfair and corrupt.

There are different types of nepotism. Some people give their relatives jobs that they’re not qualified for. Others give them preferential treatment, like letting them skip the line or giving them special privileges.

Nepotism can be positive or negative. It can be helpful to have someone you trust in a position of power, but it can also lead to corruption and favoritism.
