Net Zero

Net Zero

Net zero is defined as achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by balancing a measured amount of GHGs emitted with an equivalent amount sequestered or offset, or buying enough carbon credits to make up the difference.

Achieving net zero status requires careful management of all GHG emitting activity and careful consideration of the projects and practices used to offset any remaining emissions. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for going net zero, there are many options available to emitters that can help get them closer to this goal. Some common approaches include renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage, and planting trees.
