oboloo Glossary

Non-Renewable Resource

A non-renewable resource is any resource that cannot be replaced naturally within a human timescale. In general, these resources come from the Earth and include sources such as fossil fuels – oil, coal and gas – that are used to create energy. They are finite and thus need to be used carefully and responsibly in order to preserve them for future generations. Non-renewable resources are becoming increasingly scarce due to overconsumption, leading to concerns about sustainability, climate change, and economic stability. For this reason, it’s important that we look for more sustainable sources of energy, namely renewable resources such as solar and wind power, in order to meet our current and future energy needs.
