Procurement Policy Note (Ppn) Definition

A Procurement Policy Note (PPN) is a document that provides guidance on the procurement of goods and services. It sets out the government’s policy on how public procurement should be conducted and includes principles and rules for procuring goods and services.

The PPN has been developed in consultation with stakeholders and is based on international best practice. It is intended to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government procurement, and to promote competition, transparency and value for money in the procurement of goods and services.

The PPN applies to all entities that are subject to the Public Procurement Act 2007 (the Act). This includes Commonwealth entities, state and territory agencies, local governments and private sector bodies that procure goods and services on behalf of the Commonwealth.
