Project Management Dependencies are a key factor in how projects are managed. By definition, Project Management Dependencies are elements that must be completed in order for a project to proceed to the next step. They essentially serve as a gateway that must be opened before the project can move forward. Without the successful completion of a dependency, a project will not be able to progress and will ultimately fail. Project Management Dependencies are typically identified during the planning phase of a project; however, they can also be determined during implementation or post-implementation. Dependencies are critical to the success of a project, as they provide an understanding of which tasks must be completed in a particular order and how they will affect the timeline of the project.
