Silo Working

Silo Working Definition

A silo is a structure that isolates and contains a process or activity. The term is most often used in the agricultural context, where silos are used to store grain. However, the concept can be applied to any situation in which one element of a system needs to be isolated from the rest.

In business, a silo mentality can refer to a way of thinking that limits cooperation and collaboration within an organization. When workers operate in silos, they are more likely to see their colleagues as competitors rather than allies. This can lead to infighting, turf wars, and other counterproductive behaviors.
