Sustainability Definition

The definition of sustainability is the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is often referred to as ‘meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’

There are three key components to this definition:

1. The need for environmental protection and stewardship

2. The need for social justice and equity

3. The need for economic development
