Transfer Of Copyright Ownership

Transfer of Copyright Ownership is the process whereby a copyright owner formally transfers control over their copyrighted works to another. This is done through a document that states both the name of the transferor and the transferee, as well as the explicit permission of the transferor to transfer copyright ownership to the transferee. It is important that any Transfer of Copyright Ownership be executed in writing, and signed by both parties. The document should also cover such topics as what works are being transferred, any stipulations regarding the terms of use or reproduction, and how long the transfer lasts. With this legally binding document, copyright owners can rest assured that their creative works are secure and protected.
