Supplier Sustainability

Supplier Sustainability Definition

A supplier sustainability definition is a commitment by a company to source materials and products from suppliers that meet certain environmental and social standards. This can include criteria such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable forestry practices, or ensuring decent working conditions for employees.

Many companies are incorporating sustainability into their supplier selection criteria in order to mitigate risk and ensure a stable supply chain. In some cases, sustainability may even be a deciding factor when two suppliers are otherwise equal.

The benefits of sourcing from sustainable suppliers extend beyond the environment and social responsibility. Sustainably-produced goods tend to be of higher quality and have fewer negative impacts throughout the supply chain. This can lead to cost savings for companies that incorporate sustainability into their supplier selection criteria.
