Tactical Sourcing

Tactical Sourcing Definition

Tactical sourcing is the process of identifying and engaging suppliers to provide goods or services in support of an organization’s business objectives. The goal of tactical sourcing is to obtain the best value for the organization by maximizing quality and minimizing cost.

Tactical sourcing typically involves short-term contracts with suppliers, as opposed to long-term relationships. This allows organizations to be more agile in their sourcing strategies and take advantage of opportunities as they arise. Additionally, by working with multiple suppliers, organizations can encourage competition and drive down prices.

To be successful, tactical sourcing requires a clear understanding of an organization’s business objectives and what goods or services are required to support those objectives. Organizations must also have a robust supplier management process in place to identify qualified suppliers, evaluate proposals, and monitor performance.
