oboloo’s Glossary

Percs (short for “percentages”) is an investment/finance term that refers to the size of a share or stake in a company or other financial asset. It can also refer to the portion of a dividend paid out to investors. For example, if you own 10 percent of a company’s shares, then you have 10 percs worth of ownership. That could give you the right to 10 percent of any dividends paid out as well as certain voting rights. Importantly, percs are not fixed and can fluctuate based on market conditions and other factors. Knowing when and how to buy and sell percs is often the key to successful investing.
