Efficacy

The definition of efficacy is the power or capacity to produce a desired effect. When it comes to medications, efficacy refers to the ability of the drug to produce the desired therapeutic effect. In order for a medication to be effective, it must be able to reach the target site in the body and bind to the appropriate receptors. The amount of medication that reaches the target site and how long it stays there will determine its effectiveness.
