Working from home and working remotely are two distinct scenarios that have grown in popularity over recent years. In general, work from home is when employees perform their job duties while physically present in their own house. This usually means that their job duties are done using a computer or phone connected to the company’s systems, while all communication with co-workers and clients is conducted online or via teleconference.

Remote working, meanwhile, refers to employees who do not have a physical presence in the main office building of the company—in other words, they don’t actually go there to work. Instead, they might be living in another city, another country, or even on another continent entirely; however, they still remain connected to the company they work for by using technology such as email, video conferencing, and other digital tools. The key difference here is that these employees are free to work wherever and whenever suits them best.
