Addendum To Contract Definition
An addendum to a contract is an additional document that modifies, adds to, or subtracts from the original contract. The addendum becomes part of the contract and has the same legal weight as the original contract. An addendum can be used to make changes to just about any term in the contract including, but not limited to, the price, delivery date, terms of payment, scope of work, or warranty.
If both parties agree to the changes laid out in the addendum, they should sign and date it. Once signed, it becomes a legally binding document and cannot be changed without the agreement of both parties. If one party does not agree to the terms of the addendum, they should not sign it. In this case, the original contract remains in force.
