Process
In business, a process is a set of activities or tasks that you use to produce a product or service. The term ‘process’ can also refer to the way something happens, such as how a bill becomes a law.
A process is often described as having inputs, outputs, and controls. Inputs are the things you need to get started, like raw materials or information. Outputs are the things that come out of the process, like finished products or services. Controls are the ways you keep the process running smoothly, like quality control or safety procedures.
There are many different types of processes, but they all share some common features. A process must have a purpose – it should be designed to achieve specific goals. A process must also have defined steps – each step should be necessary to reach the goal, and no unnecessary steps should be included. Finally, a process must be repeatable – it should be possible to run the process multiple times and get the same results each time.
