Acquire

The word “acquire” means to or to come into possession of. It is a transitive verb, which means it takes an object.

-To come into possession of something is to obtain or buy it.

-To obtain something is to get it.

-To get something is the same as obtaining it.

So when you ask if the term “to acquire” has a business definition, you are asking if the word “acquire” is defined in business terms. In other words, you are asking if it can be used in a business sense. The answer to this question is yes, but not exactly how you might expect. While we do use this term on a daily basis, there are times when the word “acquire” has a different meaning than the one we normally associate with it.
