Assignment Definition

An assignment is a legal transfer of rights or interests in property from one person to another. The person making the assignment is called the assignor, and the person to whom the rights or interests are transferred is called the assignee. An assignment may be made orally or in writing, but it must be clear that the assignor intends to make a permanent transfer of all rights or interests in the property.
