Business Requirement Definition
Business requirements are the foundation for achieving successful business outcomes. They capture what a business needs to do to meet its goals and objectives.
Requirements definition is the process of gathering and documenting the requirements of a system, product, or service. The goal of requirements definition is to develop a shared understanding of the system, product, or service to be built.
The business requirement definition process begins with understanding the business need. Once the business need is understood, the next step is to identify who will be using the system, product, or service and what they need to do with it. This information is used to create a list of functional and non-functional requirements. Functional requirements describe what the system, product, or service must do; non-functional requirements describe how the system, product, or service must behave.
After the requirements are gathered and documented, they need to be reviewed and approved by all stakeholders. Once approved, the requirements serve as a contract between the stakeholders and those responsible for designing, building, and delivering the system, product, or service.
