The contract period is the time during which a contract is in force. The period may be specified in the contract, or it may be implied by the nature of the contract. For example, a lease has a definite term, and the contract automatically terminates at the end of that term. In contrast, an employment contract generally does not have a specific duration, but rather terminates when either party gives notice to the other.
