Core Activities Definition

There are a variety of different activities that can be classified as ‘core’ activities. However, there are some common characteristics that most core activities share. Generally speaking, core activities are those that are essential to the organization and operation of the business. They are typically those activities that generate revenue or contribute to the company’s bottom line.

Core activities can vary from company to company, but some examples might include product development, marketing, sales, customer service, and accounting. In many cases, these activities are directly related to the company’s primary source of revenue. For example, a software company’s core activities might revolve around developing new software products and selling them to customers.

While core activities are typically essential to the success of the business, they can also be costly and time-consuming. As such, it is important for companies to carefully consider which activities they classify as ‘core’ and which ones they can outsource or eliminate altogether. The goal is to focus on those activities that will have the biggest impact on the bottom line while minimizing costs as much as possible.
