An electronic signature, or e-signature for short, is an electronic, paperless method of signing a contract or other documents. It’s the accepted way to authenticate a digital contract or document in a secure and legally compliant manner. Put simply, an electronic signature is cost-effective, efficient, accurate, and safe due to its digital nature and the ability to track who has signed which document. The act of creating an e-signature involves using various forms of identifying authentication to verify you are who you say you are. Common forms of authentication include biometric identifiers such as a fingerprint scan, a personal identification number (PIN) code, or a typed name. Once your identity has been verified and your signature officially attached to the document, it’s marked as officially signed and ready to be sent to the other parties involved.
