Culture is often described as the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social customs, music and arts.
But culture is far more complex than that. It’s the manifestation of our shared values, beliefs and norms. It’s what we learn from the people around us – starting with our parents and caregivers. Culture shapes our perceptions, behaviours and actions. It influences how we see the world and how we interact with others. In short, culture defines who we are.
