Devolve Definition
When most people think of the word “devolve,” they think of it as a synonym for “degenerate” or “decline.” However, the true definition of devolve is “to pass on or delegate (powers or responsibility) to someone else.”
In other words, when you devolve power or responsibility, you are giving it up voluntarily. This can be done for a number of reasons, such as convenience or necessity. For example, if you are unable to handle a certain task, you may devolve it to someone else who is better equipped to deal with it.
Similarly, if you have too much on your plate and need to focus your attention elsewhere, you may also choose to devolve some of your responsibilities. In either case, devolving power or responsibility is usually seen as a positive thing – it shows that you are willing to let go of control and allow others to help out.
