Digital wet signatures are the digital equivalent of a handwritten signature and are used to authenticate documents electronically. Unlike other digital signatures, which rely on cryptography techniques, wet signatures involve a physical representation of the signatory’s name or initials being ‘digitally applied’ to a document. This means that the same legal standing is applied to a wet signature as would be to a traditional, pen-and-paper signature. Wet signatures can also provide advanced security measures such as biometrics, multi-factor authentication, expiration settings, and secure administrative access.
