Duplicate Invoice

The official business definition of Duplicate Invoice is an invoice or receipt which is a duplicate of an existing invoice or receipt created for the purpose of re-issuing the same information or purchasing goods or services. It is generally used when a company needs to replace a lost, stolen, destroyed, or misfiled invoice. Duplicate invoices are typically requested by the customer, and are usually accompanied by an authorization letter from the customer’s accounts payable department. Duplicate invoices are also used to correct mistakes on an invoice, such as incorrect information or incorrect pricing. Generally, the duplicate invoice will reflect the same information as the original invoice, with the exception of the corrected information or pricing. The duplicate invoice should also include a unique identifier showing that it is a duplicate, such as the words “Duplicate Invoice” or the customer’s name and
