Glass Cliff

Glass Cliff: A phenomenon in which a business or organization’s leadership positions become more precarious as they increasingly go to already disadvantaged individuals. This is often seen when a company experiences difficulties, resulting in increased risk of failure for the executives, while providing little potential reward. The “glass cliff” can be found across all industries but is most prevalent in the corporate world. It serves as a reminder that when decisions are being made about distribution of power and prestige, those who need it most are sometimes put in harm’s way.
