Green Procurement Policy

Green Procurement Policy Definition

Most organizations have a procurement policy that defines the process and procedures for how goods and services are procured. A green procurement policy is a set of guidelines that an organization uses to ensure that the products and services they procure have a positive environmental impact.

There are a number of ways an organization can incorporate green procurement into their existing procurement policy. One way is to specify that preference will be given to suppliers who offer products and services with a lower environmental impact. Another way is to set environmental criteria that must be met in order for a product or service to be considered for purchase.

In order for a green procurement policy to be effective, it needs to be well-defined and clear so that everyone involved in the procurement process understands what is expected of them. The policy should also be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it is up-to-date with the latest environmental standards.
