Horizontal Alignment Definition

In graphic design, horizontal alignment is the placement of elements along a horizontal line. When elements are horizontally aligned, they have a visual relationship with each other and appear to be connected.

There are three types of horizontal alignment: left-aligned, center-aligned, and right-aligned. Left-aligned text is aligned with the left margin, while right-aligned text is aligned with the right margin. Center-aligned text is centered between the margins.

Just as there are three types of horizontal alignment, there are also three types of vertical alignment: top-aligned, middle-aligned, and bottom-aligned. Top-aligned elements are aligned with the top margin, while bottom-aligned elements are aligned with the bottom margin. Middle-aligned elements are centered between the top and bottom margins.

Horizontal and vertical alignment can be used together to create different designs. For example, you could have a left-aligned header with a right-aligned paragraph underneath it.
