Indirect Costs Definition

Indirect costs are those that cannot be directly traced to a specific cost item, project, or activity. They are sometimes also called overhead costs. Indirect costs include rent, insurance, utilities, and general and administrative expenses. Indirect costs can also include the cost of capital, such as the interest on a loan used to finance a project.
