Injunction

Injunction

An injunction is a court order that requires someone to do something or to stop doing something. A party who does not obey an injunction can be held in contempt of court and fined or jailed.

Injunctions are typically used to protect people from harm, such as in domestic violence situations, but they can also be used to prevent someone from engaging in activities that may cause harm to others, such as environmental pollution.
