Invoice Item
In short, an invoice item is a good or service that has been provided by a vendor to a customer, and for which the customer will be billed.
In greater detail, an invoice item can be thought of as a line item on an invoice, describing the good or service being billed, as well as any relevant information such as quantity, price, etc. It is important to note that invoice items are different from products or services in that they have already been provided – meaning that the customer has already received the good or service and is now being billed for it. As such, invoice items are often created after the fact, based on records of what was provided to the customer.
There are many different types of invoice items which can be found on invoices, depending on the nature of the business and the goods or services being billed. Some common examples include: labour (e.g. hours worked), materials (e.g. parts used), expenses (e.g. travel), and so forth. No matter what type of business you have or what goods or services you provide, there is likely an invoice item that can capture it – giving you a clear and accurate record of what was provided to the customer and how much they owe for it.
