Life Cycle Assessment (Lca) Definition

A life cycle assessment (LCA) is a comprehensive environmental study that examines the full range of a product’s or system’s impacts throughout its lifetime.

In other words, an LCA assesses the environmental burdens associated with a given product or service from “cradle to grave,” including raw material extraction, transportation, manufacturing, use, and disposal. The goal of an LCA is to identify opportunities to reduce the environmental impacts of a product or system.

LCAs are increasingly used by businesses as a tool for making environmentally responsible decisions about products and processes. They can also be used to communicate the environmental impacts of products to consumers and other stakeholders.
