Misrepresentation
When a person makes a false statement about themselves, their abilities, or their qualifications, it is considered misrepresentation. This can be done intentionally or unintentionally, but either way, it can have serious consequences. If you are caught misrepresenting yourself, you could face legal action and/or damages.
Intentional misrepresentation is when someone lies on purpose. For example, if you lie on your resume about your work experience or education, that is intentional misrepresentation. Unintentional misrepresentation is when you make a mistake or are misinformed. For example, if you accidentally list the wrong degree on your resume, that is unintentional misrepresentation.
Both types of misrepresentation can be damaging to your reputation and career. If you are ever accused of misrepresenting yourself, it is important to seek legal counsel immediately to help you navigate the situation.
