Niche Definition
In ecology, a niche is the functional role of an organism within its environment. More specifically, it is the relational position of a species or population in an ecosystem. A niche includes all of the biotic and abiotic resources that are utilized by a species to persist and produce offspring. For example, a raptor’s niche includes access to prey, perches from which to hunt, nesting sites, and mates.
