Objective Definition

An objective is a specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound goal that you set for yourself. It is the end result that you desire. In order to write an effective objective, you need to understand your motivation behind wanting to achieve this goal.

Why do you want to achieve this goal?

What are your specific goals?

What are your timeframes?

Your objectives should be challenging yet achievable. They should also be specific and measurable so that you can track your progress and see whether or not you are on track to reach your goal. Here are some tips for writing effective objectives:

1. Be clear about what you want to achieve. Vague objectives will only lead to frustration and disappointment down the road. Make sure that your objective is something that you can realistically accomplish within the given timeframe.

2. Set a deadline for yourself. This will help keep you accountable and motivated to reach your goal. Without a deadline, it’s all too easy to put off taking action on your objective.3 Make sure that your objective is measurable. This way, you’ll be able to track your progress and see whether or not you’re on track to reach your goal.4 Keep your objective realistic. If your objective is too ambitious, you’re likely to get discouraged and give up before reaching it. However, if it’s not ambitious enough, you may find yourself bored and unfulfilled once you do reach it.
