Plain Language Definition

Plain language is defined as communications that are clear, concise, well-organized, and easily understood by the intended audience. It is also sometimes called plain English.

There are many benefits to using plain language in your writing, including the following:

• Improving clarity and understanding

• Reducing ambiguity

• Helping people find what they need

• Making it easier to skim or scan text

• Breaking down complex concepts into smaller pieces

When you use plain language in your writing, you make it easier for your reader to understand what you’re saying. This can be helpful in a variety of settings, whether you’re writing an email to a colleague or creating user documentation for a new software application.

In general, there are four key things to keep in mind when writing in plain language:

1. Use simple words and phrases

2. Be concise

3. Organize information logically

4. Avoid jargon
