Product Owner Definition
A product owner is a member of the agile development team responsible for defining, prioritizing, and approving user stories. The product owner works with the development team to ensure that the right product is built.
The product owner definition can be broken down into three key responsibilities:
Defining user stories: The product owner is responsible for working with stakeholders to define user stories. User stories are brief descriptions of functionality that will be delivered to end users. They should be written from the perspective of the user and should capture what the user wants to achieve.
Prioritizing user stories: Once user stories have been defined, the product owner is responsible for prioritizing them. Prioritization should be based on business value and/or risk. User stories with a higher business value or higher risk should be given a higher priority.
Approving user stories: The product owner is responsible for approving user stories before they are implemented by the development team. This ensures that only those user stories that deliver value to the business are implemented.
