Projects Definition

A project is a temporary endeavor with a defined beginning and end undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result. Projects are distinct from ongoing processes, such as product development or software maintenance, which aim to produce repetitive results.

A project is different from day-to-day operations in that it has specific objectives to be completed within certain constraints. These include time (duration), funding (budget), and resources (labor, materials, equipment). The key deliverable of a project is its final outcome: the product, service, or result that was specified in the project’s objectives.

Projects can range in size from small tasks undertaken by individuals to large initiatives undertaken by organizations. For example, painting a room in your house would be considered a small project; developing a new car model would be considered a large project.
