Reconciliate

When two people or groups reconcile, they become friendly again after an argument or disagreement. To reconcile is to make peace.

The word reconcile comes from the Latin roots re-, meaning “again,” and conciliare, meaning “to come together, unite.” When we reconcile with someone, we go back to being on good terms—in other words, we make up.

We can also use reconcile in a more general sense to mean “to bring into harmony or agreement.” For example, you might try to reconcile your love of travel with your fear of flying by taking a few deep breaths and visualization exercises before boarding the plane.

You can also use reconciled as a verb meaning “to make compatible.” In this usage, it’s often followed by with: The company has reconciled its environmental policies with its need to make a profit.
