Selection Criteria
There are a few different factors that go into the selection criteria definition for a given procurement process. The most important factor is likely to be the needs of the organization being procured for. Other important factors could include financial considerations, time frame for delivery, legal restrictions, and more.
Once the key decision makers have been identified, they will work together to come up with a definition for the selection criteria. This definition should be specific enough that it can be used to filter out unqualified vendors or proposals. It should also be flexible enough that it allows for some level of creativity and innovation from vendors.
The selection criteria definition will usually be laid out in the Request for Proposal (RFP) document. This document will also often include other important information such as an overview of the project, timeline, evaluation criteria, and more.
