Process Improvement Initiatives
Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the process of optimizing a business’s supply chain—that is, the system of interconnected activities that brings products from raw materials to finished products into customers’ hands. SCM includes everything from sourcing and procurement to production and distribution, and it impacts all parts of a business. It involves understanding the suppliers and buyers in order to keep costs low and ensure timely delivery, while also considering factors like customer satisfaction, sustainability, and emerging technologies. By definition, SCM processes and procedures involve developing mutually beneficial relationships with vendors and customers, coordinating information flows among partners, leveraging technology to increase efficiency and accuracy, focusing on cost savings, meeting customer demands, and tracking progress throughout the entire process.
