Supply Chain Network Definition

A supply chain network is a system of organizations, people, activities, information, and resources that work together to move a product or service from supplier to customer.

The purpose of a supply chain network is to provide the right product or service at the right time and place while reducing cost and ensuring quality.

A supply chain network typically includes suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and customers. In some cases, it may also include transportation providers, warehousing providers, and third-party logistics providers.

The term “supply chain network” is sometimes used interchangeably with “supply chain” or “supply chain management”.
