Taxonomy
In biology, taxonomy is the science of classifying organisms and determining their natural relationships. A taxonomic classification system is a hierarchical arrangement of groups within which individual organisms are assigned to specific categories based on shared characteristics.
Organisms are typically classified into groups based on their similarities, with each group becoming progressively more inclusive. The first level of classification is the kingdom, which is the broadest category. Organisms are then grouped into smaller and more exclusive categories, such as phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
The process of classifying organisms into groups is known as Taxonomy. The science of Taxonomy deals with naming, describing and classifying living organisms. It also helps in identifying similarities and differences between various groups of organisms.
